"It's now time to elect a progressive to close the deal here in the 39th. I grew up here and am a lifelong Democrat. This election is the most important of our lifetime. Next Congress may decide whether to impeach a President, respond to Trump's dangerous foreign policy and fight for Americans hurt by Trump's tax reform and attacks on health care."
“Ed already votes with Trump 97% of the time,” said Democratic challenger Sam Jammal. “I don’t know how he distances himself from Trump with his voting record and now spouse working for the guy. Best of luck to him on explaining how he will serve us, not The Donald.”
“Sam represents the American dream with a distinct climate flair. The son of working class immigrants, he’s worked in both government and the private sector to support the clean energy revolution, from solar power to electric vehicles. We’re excited about Sam, and so are his future constituents—our in-district members overwhelmingly voted for Sam in our member survey about the primary.”
"Today is a serious blow to the America I grew up in. I entered the campaign with the firm belief that - while we have our differences in how to get there - whether you are a Republican or Democrat, you cared about the future and making sure we maintain who we are as Americans in a changing economy."
"As a resident of neighboring Fullerton, who spent much of my youth working in Brea and currently frequents numerous local establishments throughout the City, I am concerned about how defending such a clearly unconstitutional ordinance will waste taxpayer dollars and draw negative publicity to this great city."
"We may remember today as the day innovation in America began its slow death. It's not the first time government has chosen the big guys over innovators - but this is a big hit. Once again politics is catering to well-subsidized incumbents over the upstart."
"By sending Sam Jammal to Congress, Californians will have the new warrior they need to fight back and Democracy for America members couldn’t be more excited to stand with him every step of the way.” -- Jim Dean, Chair of Democracy for America
This tax vote is reason number 1 why we need to retire Ed Royce. If people like Ed stood up for families in their district instead of donors and out of district millionaires, then we wouldn’t have the Senate abuse it’s own rules to force this vote.
All prior claims and settlements against Members of Congress should be made public immediately. Taxpayers deserve to know how their money is being spent. The fact that this is being kept secret is a national embarrassment.
Today, Ed Royce voted for his wealthy donors, Donald Trump, and out-of-district millionaires over families in our community... Like many in our community, I come from a working class family who benefited from the vital programs the GOP just voted to increase taxes on.
