Grassroots organization dedicated to fighting climate change endorsed life-long Democrat Sam Jammal
Fullerton, CA — Today, Climate Hawks Vote, a grassroots organization dedicated to fighting climate change, endorsed life-long Democrat Sam Jammal for California’s 39th Congressional District, a U.S. House race that will be critical to helping Democrats win back the House of Representatives in 2018.
“Sam represents the American dream with a distinct climate flair. The son of working class immigrants, he’s worked in both government and the private sector to support the clean energy revolution, from solar power to electric vehicles. We’re excited about Sam, and so are his future constituents—our in-district members overwhelmingly voted for Sam in our member survey about the primary.”

“The only thing holding us back from a clean energy economy is outdated politics from people like Ed Royce. It’s time for change in Congress,” said Sam Jammal. “We have the technology and thousands of jobs are already being created in solar and wind power and electric vehicle industries. I saw this as a clean energy executive and believe our best days are ahead of us in making America the leader in clean energy.”
“Ed Royce has spent a quarter of a century voting against the environment and denying climate change. Instead of promoting the clean energy jobs of the future, Ed is only focused on protecting the fossil fuels of the past. The effects of climate change are here – we see it in the wildfires in LA and Orange counties and the unprecedented hurricane damage in Florida, Texas and Puerto Rico. Ed Royce doesn’t represent the future and he is putting our district in constant danger with his consistent votes with Donald Trump.”
Jammal (CA-39) grew up in the communities of California’s 39th Congressional District as the son of working class immigrants from South America and the Middle East. He has experience as a senior official in the Obama administration and as a clean energy executive, which sets him apart from the field. Climate Hawks Vote joins a growing list of progressive groups and individuals who have endorsed Sam. Just last week, Democracy for America, a people-powered progressive PAC with 305,710 members in California, announced its support for Jammal.
